Can You Ever Forgive Me?

I'm sending you this
With hope in my heart
That it isn't too late
For healing to start

I can't right the wrong
That I've done to you
Or undo the heartache
That I've put you thru

And I can't change the past
Like I wish I could
There's no way to go back
And turn bad into good

But if you'd only let me
I'd sure like to try
To be someone you need
And want in your life

To show you I love you
And how sorry I am!
Can you ever forgive me
And love me again?

  14. I enjoyed your poem on forgiveness very much. I think it would read 'easier' if you used punctuation but I know that's a 'preference.' The tone of the poem is 'hopeful.' The flow is very good. The poem is easy to read, with interesting word choices. All in all, just a great poem. Thanks for sharing it!

  15. Thank for your comment John - I appreciate your honesty very much and I'm so glad you liked it! I do use punctuation like question marks, exclamation points and dashes (or hyphens) in my poems but no periods - sometimes I even use incorrect grammar - on purpose! :)

  29. Your words touch the heart and help mend in ways indescribable... it sounds like these words were formed in language for you to lay them out exactly like you did.

  38. That is a beautiful poem, if there is some way to contact you to share with you a recent relationship that became a friendship and I ended screwing that up with my insecuritie. So needless to say I lost a great person. And would love to make amends.

    1. Do you have that poem with you in making amends? I just lost the most amazing guy that I've ever been with. I broke his trust because of my insecurities. Do you mind share it with me? This is my email thursina93@yahoo.com

  42. Meyouun Mottu - Sorry for your loss Meyouun - your poem certainly does express your pain - you're a terrific poet!! However, this space is for comments about "Can You Ever Forgive Me?" Have you considered starting your own blog to showcase your poems?

  43. Sorry Louise, I couldn't resist posting my poem here as I saw folks here who seem to have undergone one trauma or the other in their lives. I too erred like humans do but she hasn't acted divine yet to forgive me. Her absence has embittered my life to the extent that I feel having lost all the colour of life.
Thanks for liking my poem and calling me a terrific poet but in literature, I know I've long way to go. English is my second language and I don't know the extent to what I've achieved prowess in writing. Yes I've a blog where I post my poems. Though it's public but I've started it all for her notice with whom I've lost all the contact and communication. Hope she bumps into the blog some time in her life and realizes how much I suffered in her absence. Here's the one to express my apology to her.

    Yet another torturous night
    Excruciating pain
    Emnating from my heart's core
    The burden of the sin
    That I committed inadvertently
Has left me in the lurch
    The dark endless night
    Cuts like a knife
I'm yet to come to terms
    With the sequence of events
That drove a wedge into our relation
Ah! The pain that she exprienced
    Upon her humiliation
Is manifested in my soul now
    Unaware of what befell me
She must be engrossed in her routine
How shall I beg her pardon
I can't survive long enough, perhaps!
Shall I die without being forgiven
O God! You're the ultimate Merciful
Make her a little merciful for my sake
    For how long
    Shall the fire of repentence
    Conflagrate my soul

  44. What I've noticed here Louise, you've so carefully taken time to reply to every commentator's post which's indicative of the fact that you're caring, affectionate and kind-hearted. God makes such individuals rarely. You're truly a limited edition individual. God bless you and give you a long life to spread hope, love, compassion for years to come.
